ART STUDIO & PROPERTY FACILITIES

We are currently fundraising for the construction of our dedicated live/ work studio building for our visiting artists. In the meantime Resident Artists are given a room in our Maloka Jungle House as a private studio space, but are encouraged to work anywhere on the property. The rooms and kitchen are adjacent to an open air patio suitable for working outside.

Materials and Tools: Art Supplies and materials are not included. You are responsible for bringing the supplies and materials you need for your studio practice. We can, however, help to organize shipping your materials to our place prior to your arrival. Artists are also encouraged to consider the use of natural materials from the area such as stone, wood, clay, bamboo (guadua) or sand. We will facilitate trips to the nearby villages and the city of Santa Marta where there are hardware stores, wood shops, carpenters, welders etc. La Sierra is very welcoming of site-specific installations anywhere on the property and open to investing in the materials for these proposals. Our facilities provide an inspiring, yet relaxed venue for your creative work, with practical support from people who directly understand the requirements of professional artists. Use of our wood shop and tools are available upon request and with guidance from our maintenance staff.
